Garden Party
We’re throwing a Garden Party! We’re so excited to hang in the VOLT Courtyard (which we’re transforming into a magical garden!), sip on champagne, and help style some of our best customers in the latest spring Free People pieces. Structures Salon & Spa will be in the garden too, showing the new Mirabella makeup spring line. We’ve been looking for inspiration for the magical garden we’re creating and wanted to share some of the cool things we’ve found. And, we’ll throw in some garden party Free People pieces we’re loving, too:

We’re looking forward to this weekend! Mayfest takes over Downtown Frederick, MD and Sunday night we’re shooting another fashion video! We’re teaming up with Tim Scott, Erick Gibson, and Beccah Leister of Structures Salon & Spa to bring you another rad video - full of cool scenes, awesome rocker outfits, a drag strip, and lots of pretty girls. We’ve combed the store for some rock inspired outfits and have put together some great pieces - we can’t wait to share the video with you!

Do you DIY?
DIY has become all the rage recently, with the likes of Pinterest and other tools that allow you to share your creativity. One DIY that we’re currently obsessed with? DIY shorts! We’ve seen so many cute ideas on Pinterest and just yesterday, Free People blogged about it too! And, if you followed any of the Coachella buzz, you’ll see that many people in attendance were rocking cutoffs that had been embellished, studded, cut up, and manipulated.

Oh hey, spring
In case you didn’t notice the nice weather outside (we’re so spoiled), Spring is here! And, so are fun trends to try if you haven’t already.
- COLOR! … brights, pastels, just COLOR, any COLOR. Be sure to try out some colored jeans or shorts for spring! Our crew has been loving the colored denim and we are excited to rock some colored shorts soon. Colored tops are totally cool with us too :)

- ARM CANDY! … in case you haven’t racked your wrist, be sure to layer up some bracelets. Any material or style will do, and it looks great layered with a watch.

- FLOWERS … everywhere. Flowers on your pants, printed on your shirt, or even in your hair. They prove to be a simple way to add a pop of color to a basic outfit, or add a whimsical, romantic touch to compliment your style.

- DENIM on DENIM … no, we’re not talking canadian tuxedos, we’re referring to the light and dark denims that you can pair together without looking too matchy. If you want to spice it up, add a printed scarf (we love leopard!) to your waist.

- FUN EYES … What do we mean by fun eyes? Have you seen the cat eye? We love the look and it’s a great way to play up those pretty blues, greens or browns. Pastel eye shadow (think mint or lavender) looks great on everyone and is a nice way to draw attention to your eyes (hey, look at us!).

- BEACH WAVES, AU NATURAL! … Let your hair dry naturally and add some product to get the beach wave look! If your hair isn’t naturally curly or wavy, a flat iron or hair wand can help add in some curl. Sammi and Danielle love this look and say it helps with the in between short and long length phase. They each use a combo to get their beach waves - add product to towel dried hair, let hair dry naturally halfway, finish with a blowdryer and manipulate with a flat iron (the flat iron helps hold some of the wave). Another technique to try - sleeping with damp hair, braided.

- STATEMENT JEWELRY … Lots of fun necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings are out there for you to add to your outfit. Think BIG. Pick one piece to add to your get up, too much big jewelry can be overwhelming.

- PRINTS on your pants! … prints are great for spring and you can be as tame or wild as you’d like. Erycka and April have been rocking navaho, flowered and leopard printed pants. They are easy to match with a variety of tops in your closet and will work great with a colored top or even a white tshirt.

One Day Without Shoes = Success!
We had a blast yesterday with everyone who showed up without shoes, to support our One Day Without Shoes event! We marked the walk route and chalked up Baker Park, Church Street, and Market Street to help spark curiosity and conversation amongst those highly trafficked areas. The walk kicked off around 12:30 and we had filmer Tim Scott on hand, following the participants through town (we’ll have a rad video to share shortly!)
Upon arrival to the store, participants found a photobooth (yes!), yummy food from Magoo’s, crafts, giveaways, and one of our favorite bands, The Static Trees (who were without shoes too!) We jammed out for a couple of hours and had lots of people stopping to ask what the heck was going on. Overall a wonderful day! Thank you SO MUCH to Hood College, Magoo’s, The Static Trees, and TOMS for helping us put on such a great event! And of course you, for the support and the love you showed us yesterday - you guys rock <3
